For years, I’d wanted a painted portrait of myself. I couldn’t tell you exactly why, but I always had that image in my mind. Then Miley brought it to life.

Miley Yousefi is an Iranian artist based in Stockholm. Her portraits and contemporary paintings bring together strength, delicacy, emotion and femininity. We met on Instagram, and working with her was a real pleasure.

Of course, working with me isn’t always easy! 😄 I’m very particular, I notice every little detail, and I usually have a long list of requests and revisions. We spent nearly two months working on this portrait, and today I’m finally unwrapping it. I’m so excited to see it in person and so proud to have it.

There’s something deeply moving about seeing myself through the eyes of an Iranian artist. This portrait is a wish I’ve had for years come true, and it’s the first piece in my collection of Miley’s work at home.

She’s a rebel, with red lips and a cigarette, half-hidden in the smoke. It’s a small painting, and it looks absolutely gorgeous next to my antique gold mirror.

I love the way the greens, warm yellows and touches of coral come together in this portrait. The bold black lines give it so much character, and there’s something quietly expressive about the way she looks down.

It arrived in perfect condition, carefully packed by Miley. I loved it when I first saw it, and even more once I hung it on my wall.

When I unwrapped this painting, the colours were even brighter than I’d imagined. Myly had packed it so carefully that it arrived in perfect condition, with a certificate of authenticity and a lovely thank-you note. Such a thoughtful touch.

She now hangs in my hallway between two wooden French doors. I love how her colours brighten that little corner of my home.

I feel so lucky to own this beautiful painting. It now hangs in my living room, next to my Italian-designed lamp, and feels right at home with my French décor.

What drew me in was its femininity, that soulful gaze, and the way the colours come together. I find myself stopping to look at it every time I walk past.

I kept coming back to this painting before finally deciding to buy it, and I'm so glad I did.

It has a intensity that I can't really explain. It's one of those artworks that makes you stop and look for a while instead of just walking past it.
